Pender Hill View

Pender Hill View

Best view in the Pender Harbour area. Steep hike but only 20-30 minutes, well worth the effort. Take a picnic for the view at the top, you'll want to spend some time there.

To get there:
From Highway 101, turn onto Garden Bay Road. Partway around Garden Bay Lake, watch for and take the road for Irvings Landing. This takes you past Mixal Lake and Hotel Lake. Turn right onto Lee Road. Stay on the road and don't get distracted with the beautiful ocean view! Lee Road swings past Lee Bay and heads uphill and bends right. Where a cul-de-sac road connects with Lee Road from the right, at the junction look for a gravel road and small parking lot thru the brush. Park here and take the path opposite the parking area to head up Pender Hill. There is only one main trail - you haven't reached the top until you are on the rock bluff that overlooks Pender Harbour and views south and west.

Better views than Mount Daniel, less time too for those just looking for a short quick hike.

Fabulous Views - Worth the Hike
by: Anonymous

The toughest part of this hike was finding the trail! For newbies - once you are on Lee Road, look for "Coastview Drive" on your right, turn right and take first driveway on left (just a few feet from Lee Rd) to go to the parking area for this trail. There is some signage, but not very visible in the ditch. Short but fairly tough hike for this 57 year old, but well worth the prize at the top - fabulous views of Hotel Lake and Garden Bay, etc.
